Principle
Tryptone soya yeast extract broth is simple media used for enumeration of Listeria monocytogenes from food and dairy products. It is formulated as per APHA (1992) and composed of tryptone, soya peptone, sodium chloride, Dipotassium phosphate, yeast extract, and glucose. Tryptone, soya peptone, and yeast extract provide nitrogen, carbon, vitamins, and other essential growth factors. Glucose is a carbon and energy source. Sodium chloride maintains osmatic equilibrium and phosphate act as a buffering agent.
