Principle
- The media was formulated by Sabouraud (1892) and is used for the isolation and differentiation of yeast and molds. The media is composed of mycological peptone and maltose.
- Mycological peptone provides nitrogen, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and growth factors. Maltose provides an energy source for the growth of microorganisms. The low pH favor’s fungal growth and inhibits contaminating bacteria and makes it useful for cultivating fungi and aciduric microorganisms.
|
Use: Recommended for cultivation of yeasts and molds, chiefly the parasitic fungi from skin and scalp lesions.
