Plant 4-Coumarate CoA Ligase (4CL) Activity Assay
Detection Method: UV spectrophotometry
Plant 4-Coumarate CoA Ligase (4CL) is one of the key enzymes in lignin biosynthesis, mainly catalyzing cinnamic acid and its hydroxy or methoxy derivatives to generate the corresponding coenzyme A esters, and these intermediate products then enter the branch synthesis pathway of phenylpropane derivatives. The enzyme mainly exist in higher plants, yeasts and fungi.
4CL catalyzes 4-coumaric acid and CoA to generate 4-coumaric acid CoA, which has a characteristic absorption peak at 333 nm.
