Principle
- The malachite green broth is used for selective enrichment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The media is composed of Meat extract, a peptic digest of animal tissue, Dipotassium phosphate, and malachite green.
- Meat extract and peptic digest of animal tissue serve as sources of essential nutrients required for bacterial metabolism.
- Dihydrogen potassium phosphate serves as a buffering agent. Malachite green makes the medium selective for P. aeruginosa by inhibiting the growth of the associated flora.
