Principle
- Ethyl violet azide agar is composed of tryptose, dextrose, dipotassium phosphate, monopotassium phosphate, sodium chloride, sodium azide, ethyl violet, and agar. Tryptose provides nitrogen.
- Dextrose is a carbon source. Dipotassium phosphate and monopotassium phosphate are buffering agents. Sodium chloride maintains osmatic balance. Sodium azide and ethyl violet inhibits gram-positive bacilli and gam positive cocci other than enterococci.
