Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) - Cell Culture Reagent
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is often used to dissolve reagents; therefore it is known as a “universal solvent”.
DMSO is used as cell freezing media to protect cells from mechanical damage caused by ice crystals. It can also be used for the main culture, subculture, recombinant aneuploid, hybridoma, and other cell lines, embryonic stem cells (ESC), and hematopoietic stem cells. Also often used in combination with BSA or FBS.
