Principle
- Differential Reinforced Medium for Clostridia is used for cultivating Clostridia. Media is composed of a peptic digest of animal tissue, meat extract, yeast extract, soluble starch, dextrose, cysteine hydrochloride, and sodium acetate.
- Peptic digest of animal tissue, meat extract, yeast extract, starch, and cysteine hydrochloride provides nutrients and co-factors required for the growth of Clostridia.
- In addition to that cysteine hydrochloride acts as a reducing agent and soluble starch absorbs toxic metabolites from the medium. Dextrose is included in the medium as an energy source. Sodium acetate acts as buffering agent.
