Principle
- Corn starch broth is formulated by Moreira et al., (1981) and used for the cultivation and maintenance of Clostridium acetobutylicum.
- The media is composed of corn starch, potassium phosphate, Dipotassium phosphate, magnesium sulfate, Manganese sulfate, ferrous sulfate, sodium chloride, cysteine, yeast extract, and asparagine and ammonium sulfate.
- Corn starch is a carbon source, phosphate act as a buffering agent, Sulphate is the source of trace metals and sulfates.
- Yeast extract and asparagine and ammonium sulfate are sources of nitrogen and L-cystine is a reducing agent.
