Candida Agar is formulated by Fung and Liang (1988), the medium contains yeast extract, peptone, dextrose, malt extract, aniline blue, and agar.
Yeast extract, malt extract, and peptone provide nitrogenous compounds, carbon, cofactors, and other nutrients essential for growth.
Dextrose serves as a fermentable carbohydrate, providing energy for metabolic reactions. Aniline blue is a fluorescent indicator and agar is the solidifying agent.
Use: Recommended for isolation and differentiation of Candida albicans.
